About the Kitchen
While Toni’s Kitchen has and will continue to draw on the advice of our guests, our volunteers and our community to refine and expand our services, our core mission remains to prepare and serve a hot nutritious meal to our guests in a warm and welcoming environment.
Preparing the meal
Toni’s Kitchen volunteers gather at 9 a.m. every Thursday, Friday and Saturday to prepare nutritious, multi-course meals that start with passed appetizers followed by soup, a main course and dessert. The volunteer team also prepares produce, fruit and other donated foods for storage so the items are ready for future menus.
The main dish
The consistently tasty main course always includes protein—such as a chicken, beef, fish or vegetarian entrée—vegetables plus at least one other side dish accompanied by breads and rolls.
Serving our guests
At Toni’s Kitchen, all guests are welcome and served at seated tables in a comfortable atmosphere of warmth and hospitality. Special occasions are celebrated, including birthdays, encouraging a sense of community. Musical accompaniment is periodically provided by talented volunteers from local organizations.
Take away
Nothing goes to waste at Toni’s Kitchen and guests are encouraged to take away any leftovers from the day’s meal, which are packaged for them before they depart. Other items, such as bread, fruit or sweets, also are regularly available for the guests to take with them.
